Saturation offers a comprehensive system of access controls to ensure that you can collaborate effectively while maintaining the right level of security for your projects. This article outlines the various levels of access and roles available within the platform, along with detailed descriptions of each role's capabilities.
Workspace Level Access
At the top level, users can be given access to the entire workspace. This allows them to see all projects within that workspace. The available roles at this level are:
Owner
Has full control over the workspace
Can manage all aspects of the workspace, including billing and subscription
Can add, modify, or remove users and their roles
Has access to all projects and can perform any action within them
Can issue expense cards and perform bill pay operations

Can manage users and their roles (except for other Admins or Owners)
Can create, edit, and delete projects
Has full access to all projects within the workspace
Can issue expense cards and perform bill pay operations
Editor
Can view and edit all projects in the workspace
Cannot manage users or billing
Can create new projects
Commenter

Special Workspace Role: Accountant
There is an additional workspace-level role called "Accountant" that provides financial access. Two Accountant roles are included in the Production tier.
Accountant
Has read-only access to financial data across all projects
Can view budgets, actuals, and other financial reports
Cannot edit project content or manage users
Can issue expense cards and perform bill pay operations
Expense Management Features
Saturation includes robust expense management capabilities for certain roles:
Expense Card Issuance: Owners, Admins, and Accountants can issue expense cards to team members. These cards can be used for project-related expenses and are tracked within the platform.
Bill Pay: Owners, Admins, and Accountants have the ability to perform bill pay operations, allowing for efficient management of project and company expenses directly through Saturation.
These features enhance financial control and streamline expense processes within the workspace.
Project Level Access
Within each project, you can set more granular access controls. A project typically includes budget and actual financial data. The available roles at the project level are:
Admin
Has full control over the project
Can edit all aspects of the project, including budget and actuals
Can manage user access for the project
Can delete the project
Editor
Can edit all aspects of the project, including budget and actuals
Cannot manage user access or delete the project
Commenter
Can view the entire project
Can add comments to the project
Cannot edit project content or financial data
Viewer
Can view the entire project
Cannot edit, comment, or make any changes to the project
Share View
Saturation also offers a feature called "Share View" which allows for broader collaboration. This feature enables you to share specific views with team members who may not need full access to the project or workspace.
Share View Recipient
Can access only the specific view that has been shared
May have view-only or comment access, depending on the settings chosen by the sharer
Cannot access other parts of the project or workspace

Access Hierarchy
The access control system in Saturation follows a hierarchical structure:
Workspace Access: Broadest level of access, covering all projects
Project Access: More specific, limited to individual projects
Share View: Most limited, providing access to specific views only
By utilizing these different levels of access, you can ensure that each team member has the appropriate permissions for their role in your organization. Remember that higher-level access (e.g., Workspace Admin) generally includes all the permissions of lower-level roles within that scope.
