What are tags?
A tag is a reusable label that can be assigned to an account, line, or markup row. One row can have more than one tag.
Common uses include:
Location, such as Los Angeles or New York
Department, such as Art or Camera
Funding source or production unit
Tax credit eligibility
Production stage, such as Prep or Post
Tags are shared across the workspace. The Tags panel inside a project shows the workspace tags currently used by that project.
Add a tag to the budget
Open a project and select Budget.
Open Columns and make sure Tags is visible.
Select the Tags cell for an account, line, or markup.
Choose one or more existing tags. If your access allows it, create a tag from the picker.
To apply one tag to several rows, select the rows, right-click the selection, and use the tag action. The tag is added without removing tags already assigned to those rows.
Filter the budget by tags
Select Filters in the budget toolbar.
Add a Tags condition.
Choose the operator that matches the review:
Operator | Result |
Matches exactly | Shows rows with exactly the selected tags. |
Contains all | Shows rows that have every selected tag. They may have other tags too. |
Contains any | Shows rows that have at least one selected tag. |
Excludes | Hides rows with the selected tags. |
Add other filters when needed. For example, combine a location tag with a row-type filter to show only New York line items.
Save a tag group as a view
Saturation 3.0 does not have a separate Groups control. Save a filtered budget view when you want to return to the same set of tagged rows.
Apply the tag filters you need.
Choose the account scope, phases, columns, and sort order for the review.
Open Views.
Select Save current view, or select + and create a Table view.
Name the view for the group, such as New York Unit or Tax Credit Eligible.
Update the saved view after changing its filters or layout if you want teammates to open the new setup.
Manage tags and totals
Open the Tags column menu and select Open Tags settings. From the Tags panel you can:
Search the tags used in the project.
Add a tag.
Rename a tag or change its color.
Review the total for each budget phase.
Delete a tag.
Before deletion, Saturation shows where the tag is used across transactions, budget lines, phase cells, and purchase orders. Deleting a workspace tag removes it from those surfaces, so review the warning before confirming.
FAQs
Can one row have several tags?
Yes. Use Contains all when a row must have every selected tag, or Contains any when any selected tag should qualify.
Are tags limited to budgets?
No. Tags can also be assigned to transactions and purchase orders. The Tags panel reports usage across these records.
Why do I not see every workspace tag in a project's Tags panel?
The panel is scoped to tags used in the active project. Tags remain workspace-shared, even though the project panel shows a narrower list.
