Learn how to utilize pre-built & custom templates in Saturation.io to save time and create a solid starting point for your budgeting needs.

Updated this week

Templates in Saturation.io are designed to save you time and provide a solid starting point for your budgeting process. Instead of starting from scratch, you can choose from pre-built community templates or create your own to share within your workspace.

Step 1: Understand the Benefits of Templates

Saturation Film Budgeting Templates

Templates serve as a foundation for your budget, allowing you to begin entering data into charts of accounts more efficiently. They are especially useful for film and entertainment-related budgeting projects.

Step 2: Access Available Templates

You can find templates by clicking on "Templates" in the workspace menu or selecting "Create from Template" when creating a new project.

Step 3: Choose a Template

Browse through various pre-built community templates or choose from workspace templates shared by your team members. Most templates cater to film or entertainment-related budget projects.

Step 4: Create a New Project Using a Template

When starting a new project, select "Create from Template" and choose the desired template. Note that templates can only be applied to new projects and not existing ones.

Step 5: Customize Your Template

After applying a template to your project, you can fully customize and modify it to fit your specific needs. Adjust the charts of accounts or any other aspects of the template as required.

Edit Your Template

To update an existing template:

  1. Click the Templates button in the toolbar.

  2. Hover over the template you want to edit.

  3. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the template tile and select Edit Template.

Benefit from Unlimited Template Usage

There are no limits on using templates, even for users on the free "Creator Plan." However, keep in mind that the Creator Plan allows for only one project. To enjoy the benefits of multiple projects, consider upgrading your plan.

Share Templates with Your Workspace

If you have company-specific templates or standards, you can upload them as workspace templates for all workspace users to access and use.

Create templates from Projects

You can turn any existing project into a reusable template, saving time when starting similar projects in the future.

To create a template from a project:

  1. Navigate to your project dashboard

  2. Click the three-dot menu (โ‹ฎ) on the project card you want to convert

  3. Select "Make Template" from the dropdown menu

  4. Your project is now saved as a template and will appear in your template library

What gets saved in the template:

  • Budget structure and account hierarchy

  • Fringes configuration

  • Global variables

  • Phase setup and naming

What doesn't get saved:

  • Actual costs and transactions

  • Vendor/contact names and rates (optional - you can choose to include or exclude)

  • Project-specific notes and comments

Tip: This is particularly useful when you frequently work on similar types of projects (commercials, episodic TV, corporate events, etc.) and want to maintain consistency in your budget structure without starting from scratch each time.

Once created, you can access your custom templates when creating a new project by selecting them from your template library.

By leveraging the power of templates in Saturation.io, you can streamline your budgeting process and create a more efficient workflow for your financial management tasks. Don't hesitate to explore the various templates available or create your own to cater to your unique project requirements.
